Goal:
Estimation and/or prediction of the available solar resources for CPV plants in a determined site.
Scope:
The scope ranges from all of the studies carried out by ISFOC. Meteorological staff is included, in case they need to install or monitor any measuring device, as well as Operation staff and Software Engineering staff.
Facilities:
1.-Data (from different origins):
In situ measurements registered by Weather Stations and/or measuring equipment
Solar Radiation Database arising from Projects/Programmes/National and International Measuring Campaigns.
Solar Radiation Software supported by registers coming from weather stations (national and international measuring networks) and or images from satellites, say, Meteonorm, PVSIST, SAM ...
2.-Calculation Software and Data Processing: R, MatLab, Excel....
3.-Weather station and/or Measuring Equipment; weather station or measure device allowing the observations by discrete pick-up in situ of the physical variables necessary for the Solar Resource estimation in an specific site.
Stages:
Stage 1.-Iniatial Requirements
Proposal and Contract for the Solar Resource Study
Stage 2.- Data collection
Compilation of every Meteorological and Solar Radiation data available for the Solar Resource estimation. Data can be facilitated by the customer (according to the Contract) or by ISFOC (according to the Contract).
If the acquisition and/or installation and/or monitoring of a weather station or any other measuring device is considered, its start-up, monitoring, or data Collection will be scheduled at this stage.
Stage 3.- Data quality assessment
Solar radiation data coming from the observations on the surface (such as weather stations and measuring equipment) should be subjected to a quality analysis to verify their use for the Solar Resource estimation in each case.
Stage 4.- Data Analysis
Solar Resource Estimation: it requires a numeric calculation, available data processing, and graphic representation of the results.
Once the CPV plant construction is finished or in order to evaluate the performance of the plants in operation, as well as the Contract guarantees, ISFOC offers the possibility of carrying out acceptance tests for contracting and rating the power of the supplied plants, or for evaluating their power degradation.
It is important to highlight that, nowadays, there is no standard normative to determine the power of a CPV plant. Therefore, ISFOC has created its own methodology, which is being proposed to be adopted as an international standard.
Contract obligation compliance, as established on the Supply Contract, is also evaluated and verified. A detailed inspection is carried out to ensure that the minimum criteria are fulfilled in regard to quality standards, execution of works, or documentation to deal with for the CPV plants’ O&M tasks. Nevertheless, operation and start-up tests should be held prior to the power rating.
As an added value, ISFOC operates with more than 2MW under O&M monitoring, therefore, it is fully conscious of the importance of those tasks for a proper yield and return of the investment held.
In that sense, ISFOC also carries out evaluations and assessments in the process and O&M tasks, crucial for the daily performance of the plants. ISFOC is, in fact, supported by the Scientific research applied to real plants in operation by mainly focusing on the following aspects:
Verification of the quality of installations
ISFOC, with more than 5 years’ experience in Concentration Photovoltaics, a period in which it has completed the construction of more than 2MW of 7 different CPV Technologies in Spain, as well as managing their O&M tasks, while currently holding the Project Management of 1 MW more of CPV installations in other countries, has vast knowledge supported by the assessment and analysis of CPV technologies and projects.
That is why ISFOC, which has dealt with several administrative processes, such as the launching of two International Calls for Proposals for the installation of CPV plants in Spain, apart from managing the International service supplying contracts and having established several partnership agreements, offers the following services of Legal Consulting. It is important to highlight that ISFOC owns a specific department in this area and its own Legal Advisor, an expert in managing the following stages:
